Description:

Mirtaz 15mg Tablet is an antidepressant used to treat depressive disorders by positively impacting nerve cell communication in the central nervous system. It should not be prescribed if you are taking tryptophan or have used an MAO inhibitor in the last two weeks due to potentially dangerous reactions.

  • Caution should be exercised as sudden mood swings and suicidal tendencies may occur. It is not recommended for children and those below 18 years of age.
  • Do not discontinue the drug prematurely, and reduce or quit alcohol consumption as it can increase risks and side effects. Report any lack of improvement after a month of use to your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor about kidney or liver diseases, glaucoma, manic depressive disorders, epilepsy, low blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart conditions, drug abuse, etc.
  • Take the tablet once daily before bed, swallow with water, or chew till dissolved. If you miss a dose, take it when possible, but if it's almost time for the next dose, don't take the missed one again.

Follow your doctor's instructions, and it may take 2-3 weeks to achieve desired results. Avoid excessive alcohol, caffeine, and unapproved medications. Stay hydrated unless instructed otherwise.

Indication

Mirtaz 15mg Tablet is a Tetracyclic antidepressant used to treat severe depression symptoms such as sadness, loss of interest, impatience, and sleeplessness. It is a prescription-only medication that increases synthetic messengers in the brain to provide a calming effect and alleviate depression. The full effect may take up to a month to appear, with some benefits possibly seen in one to fourteen days.

Pharmacology

Mirtazapine is a piperazinoazepine tetracyclic antidepressant that works by enhancing noradrenergic and serotonergic activity. It does this by blocking central presynaptic adrenergic alpha 2 receptors. This action increases the levels of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain, which helps in treating depression and related mood disorders.
